SI MAKES FIRST VR LIVE-ACTION FILM OF CLIMBING EVEREST

Recall last year’s announcement of Everest VR, an immersive experience on what it might be like to climb Mt. Everest? This is not that. What Sports Illustrated has done is created a virtual reality film of the successful 2016 Everest climb by three adventurers–Brent Bishop, Lisa Thompson, and Jeff Glasbrenner. Even more exhilarating than “Everest VR,” Capturing Everest brings VR users alongside a seemingly impossible feat, particularly more so given the personal challenges of amputee Glasbrenner and cancer survivor Thompson.  SI’s Capturing Everest is the real deal with weather, emotions, and navigational challenges filmed in 360 degrees from “a once-in-a-lifetime look from the perspective of a climber.”
