Samsung Galaxy XR Revealed
January saw another dose of fresh information about Samsung’s much anticipated XR device. Formerly known as “Project Moohan,” the device now appears to be going by the name Galaxy XR and is expected to arrive in Q3 of 2025.
Headsets and Glasses
An XR headset is almost worthless without an ecosystem to fill it with opportunities. Hence, Android XR is on the way, too. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the Android XR platform aims to bring exciting XR experiences to Galaxy XR and other capable devices, effectively functioning as a wide ecosystem for XR use.

Part of the hardware range soon to be running Android XR includes a pair of XR glasses that remain largely a mystery. Where Galaxy XR will utilize hand and eye tracking, voice control, and more traditional physical input controllers, Samsung’s glasses are likely to be more streamlined and feature fewer comprehensive features in favor of apparent simplicity and breezy functioning.

To Infinity and Beyond
Samsung may be working on a full range of XR devices, platforms, and applications but it remains confident that Galaxy XR will compete with devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro. Galaxy XR does bear some resemblance to Apple Vision Pro with a sleek, curved, grey design that appears even more lightweight than Apple’s debut AR effort. As the market, pundits, and users wait for more information about Galaxy XR, it’s worth noting that moohan is “infinity” in Korean, a name that shows just how Samsung is considering this next stage of its evolution into the virtual realms.
