WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL? SENSICS CEO TALKS PREDICTIVE TRACKING
Yuval Boger, CEO of Sensics and co-founder of OSVR, offers how predictive tracking in both virtual and augmented reality can be used in simple and sophisticated implementations to achieve low latency. This lapsed time between movement and reflection of movement on AR/VR display can limit the progress of mixed reality technology. However, Boger envisions a future when sensing delays, processing delays, data smoothing, and other latency sources can be resolved. He suggests optimizing the timing to your liking by first estimating the end-to-end latency of a system, and highlights some samples of predictive tracking algorithms, including dead reckoning, Kalman predictor, and Alpha-beta-gamma.
