ANGLE TECHNOLOGIES COUNTS ON GPU CHIPS TO IMPROVE VR
Founded by David Kosslyn and Ian Thompson and funded with $8 million, Angle Technologies is building a new relationship between hardware and software with virtual reality at the center. Graphic processing unit (GPU) chips have traditionally been used in rendering graphics for games and software, but this team of developers sees a larger role for the chips to play in virtual reality. Angle seeks to leverage GPU processing power to render the complex graphics needed for virtual reality experiences in high-end PCs and game consoles. The greatest benefit of this technology may be the evolution of much better, much faster virtual reality.
