NEW HTC VIVE TRACKING CODE REPLICATES BODY WITH STRIKING ACCURACY
The Vive IK Demo on GitHub reveals a new VR experience using an HTC headset and Vive Tracker controllers to create a virtual replica model human. By way of three-point inverse kinematics technology and Trackers strapped on each foot and at the waist, users can capture full body motion that “gives a pretty accurate representation of the lower body with improved prediction accuracy.” The lightweight, wireless Trackers attach to the body with straps although recommendations have been made to use a stiff panel to account for variation of body shapes possibly interfering with tracking stability. While development continues to work through early stages, HTC plans to expand its consumer base for the product later this year.
