Another Australian startup is expanding the applications of virtual reality in professional development. Two-year-old Diversify VR addresses diversity and unconscious bias in the workplace by offering a series of custom-made training programs compatible with Google’s Cardboard and Oculus Gear VR headsets. Founder Lucie Hammond explains how diversity training in virtual reality enables participants to actively ‘step into another person’s shoes’, which is proving to be a powerful tool for raising awareness and feeling the impact of bias first-hand. The immersive, 360-degree experience includes workplace scenarios with hands-on learning in a group setting, providing opportunities as well for individuals to speak out against bias.
