Apple revealed earlier this year a massive engineering project in Israel that many suspected was related to augmented reality. April showers are feeding the grapevine now that the iPhone 8 will feature Apple’s “Smart Connector” for wireless charging and augmented and virtual reality accessories. This is the same connector used in the iPad Pro, which is AR/VR enabled. The technology developed by 1,000 engineers in Israel that could be featured on the upcoming iPhone 8 could include “moderate 3D mapping . . . and possibly an AR software development kit,” says analyst Steven Milunovich. Rumor continues that the newest group of Apple products are set for release this September.
