A comparison among three of the leading virtual reality headsets–PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive–reveal how development among competitors translates into higher quality for users. While Playstation VR is the heaviest among the three, Sony continues to lead the pack in ergonomic design and overall comfort. Described as an “absolute delight to wear,” PSVR uses a “hanging style” approach for wearing its headset and viewing in virtual reality. When it comes to audio, however, Oculus Rift ranks higher with its built-in headphones that conveniently hang from the headset. Regardless of various opportunities for improvement, PSVR is already paving the way for others like Intel’s Project Alloy to improve upon headset design.
