Google is no stranger to the augmented and virtual reality world. Thus, the industry is reeling with questions about what Google is up to now. According to a report from Recode, Google has abandoned its Oculus Rift-like VR headset project to develop an AR/VR headset as a mainstream commercial product. Uncertain as to whether or not Google will launch this AR/VR product simultaneously with the planned Daydream launch, the industry is anticipating another big hit from Google, which continues to be a leading force in augmented and virtual reality technology.
