Google recently announced their new app to aid VR/AR developers in creating 3D objects. Blocks will be similar to other modeling programs like Blender or ZBrush except Blocks will use a VR headset like Oculus Rift or HTC Vive to create low-poly 3D objects as quickly as users can conceive an idea. Google explains the concept of Blocks is to “feel more like playing with children’s blocks rather than working with traditional 3D modeling software . . . creating almost anything you can imagine.” Using Tilt Brush-like tools, along with basic textures and shapes for construction, virtual and augmented reality developers will seamlessly integrate with other modeling programs to enhance the creative process.
