Interacting with digital content may soon be without mouse, keyboard, and even handheld controllers, as gesture-based input technologies will soon replace the need for additional hardware. An Israel-based company, eyeSight Technologies, is close to bringing this technology into a variety of useful applications. This gesture-based technology, using the rear-facing camera of a smartphone to detect motion, will allow hands to control the Virtual Reality and AR interface. According to eyeSight CEO Gideom Shmual, no hardware can compare to human hands and fingers in interacting with the virtual world. Though still working through the early stages of development, strides in mobile processing power will likely bring this technology into the hands of everyday people in the near future.
