Disney CEO Bob Iger speaking at an event in Santa Monica last week offers a resounding “No!” to having virtual reality headsets strapped to theme park visitors. Diverting from the path other theme parks like Sea World and Six Flags have embarked, Disney will turn instead to augmented reality to enhance their entertainment and rides. For Iger, it’s all about the headsets. While AR-enhanced attractions will still require headgear, the devices will not be as bulky and view-limiting as the VR headsets. Details remain undercover, but some speculate an AR partnership with Magic Leap might be in Disney’s near future.
