First Oculus Rift, now HTC Vive, prices for big name virtual reality headsets and complete systems are dropping like leaves in the fall. The popularity of VR has been fueling momentum in the industry since earlier in the year. The summer brought Oculus in the spotlight with its $400 Summer Rift sale, and HTC has recently announced its complete Vive system will drop to a permanently lower price of $600. Advantages of the Vive sale includes its out-of-the-box, room-scale tracking capability, which surpasses Rift’s tracking range. In addition, Vive’s base station plugs into a power outlet without the need of cumbersome cables interfering with the experience.
