While many companies remain hesitant to jump into the flow of virtual reality in the mainstream, there are currently four large companies set to achieve high profits from their leading positions in the virtual reality industry. Zachs Investment Research is reporting an explosion of profitable activity linked with new product releases, research and development, and strategic partnerships among four industry leaders: Sony, Alphabet (GOOGL), Facebook, and GoPro (GPRO). From these large companies which are already invested in the marketable venture of VR, there is great anticipation of significant gains in the near future as long as the technology continues on its current trajectory into the mainstream. Sony’s “Project Morpheus,” GOOGL’s secret VR project called “Project Tango,” Facebook’s Oculus Rift, and GoPro’s Odyssey are a few of the hot projects that investors and VR enthusiasts are watching carefully. While risk remains to be measured by sales and projections, many experts agree that virtual reality will likely have a long-term profitable effect on these companies’ bottom lines.
